A handful of McHenry County-area players were selected by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association to play in the Illinois High School Shrine Game.
Players from Burlington Central, Harvard, Jacobs, Richmond-Burton and Woodstock will compete in the 51st annual game June 21 at Illinois Wesleyan’s Tucci Stadium in Bloomington.
Selected to the blue team were: Burlington Central DL Nikko Nordwind-Caraballo (6-foot-5, 290 pounds); Harvard athlete/quarterback Adam Cooke (6-3, 200); and Jacobs OL Vince DeLordo (6-3, 270) and safety Luke Gormsen (5-11, 185).
Chosen to play for the red team were: Richmond-Burton tight end Ryan Wisniewski (6-3, 190) and DL Logan Garcia (5-11, 240); and Woodstock OL Everett Flannery (6-3, 285) and safety Charlie Walwrod (6-1, 185).
