It was a return to normalcy in the Friday Night Drive power rankings after the chaos of Week 4 sent the poll into a complete upheaval.
But after a relatively normal week, Week 6 is set up to provide quite the finish to the spring season as nearly half of the Top 25 are playing another ranked opponent to close out the campaign.
As for what shaped the rankings for this week, the top six remained locked in. The biggest move was made by Hinsdale Central, which picked up a marquee win over Glenbard West to secure its place as West Suburban Conference champs and moved into the Top 10 for the first time this season.
Several newcomers also found their way into the Top 25. Lake Forest joined the group as it has moved to 5-0 on the season. Due to a scheduling quirk it won’t play the other ranked team in conference, Warren, and the two squads will likely share the conference crown because of it.
Moving in at No. 22 is Cary-Grove, although the Trojans have played just three games this season, they have picked up some solid wins.
Antioch enters at No. 23 with the Sequoits maneuvering their way through their schedule unscathed, as has No. 25 Richmond-Burton, which has absolutely powered its way through the Kishwaukee River conference slate.
With the number of ranked teams locking horns this week there will certainly be substantial movement in the final poll of the spring season. There will certainly be a shift with at least one team in the top six as top-ranked Loyola travels to No. 6 Marist to close this season.
