Brown was on a visit with the Buckeyes on Monday. He committed to coach Ryan Day’s team over a long list of other offers. That list included the likes of Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Michigan and many of the remaining Big Ten schools.
According to 247Sports composite rankings, which take an aggregate of many major recruiting website rankings, Brown is the No. 63-overall recruit in the country in the class of 2022. He ranks No. 2 in Illinois (behind East St. Louis receiver Luther Burden, who is an Oklahoma commit) and No. 6 in the country among receivers.
The Chicago native was listed as 6-foot, 195 pounds on St. Rita’s spring 2021 roster. He was a key contributor for a Mustangs team that finished 5-1 and won the CCL/ESCC Green division with a 3-0 division record. St. Rita’s only loss came in a 7-3 defeat against unbeaten Loyola Academy in the first week of the season.
As a sophomore a year earlier, Brown helped St. Rita reach the IHSA Class 5A state championship game. In their first state appearance since 2006, the Mustangs lost to Rochester in the championship game.
