High school football: Week 9 results; recaps for every game

St. Francis 19, IC Catholic Prep 7: Led by Adam Criter’s all-around play, St. Francis scored two touchdowns in the second half to top previously unbeaten IC Catholic Prep 19-7 in a Metro Suburban Conference showdown.

Lyons Township 21, Downers Grove North 14: Returning all-conference QB Joey Antonietti, moved to running back and receiver in Week 6, scored two second-half touchdowns to break a halftime tie, sending Lyons past Downers Grove North 21-14 to the Lions’ first playoffs since 2017.

Fenwick 28, St. Ignatius 20: Ball State recruit Kaden Cobb threw two touchdowns and rushed for a score, as the Friars handed St. Ignatius its first loss.

Wheaton Warrenville South 10, Glenbard North 7: Backup quarterback Kellen Brown threw a 16-yard touchdown pass to Lance Kottke with 2:28 left, giving Wheaton Warrenville South a thrilling 10-7 win over Glenbard North in a DuKane Conference thriller to clinch a playoff bid.

Nazareth 34, Benet 8: Kaleb Miller scored an offensive and defensive touchdown, freshman QB Logan Malachuk threw for 268 yards and two TDs and Nazareth’s starting defense shut out Benet in a 34-8 win to seal a playoff bid for the Roadrunners.

Downers Grove South 28, Leyden 15: The Mustangs (5-4) became playoff eligible with their fifth straight win to finish the regular season.

York 36, Oak Park-River Forest 33: The Dukes (8-1) won a high-scoring affair with the Huskies in the regular season finale.

Hinsdale South 49, Addison Trail 6: The Hornets won their final game to finish 4-5.

Willowbrook 58, Morton 18: The Warriors (6-3) bounced back from a loss to York to go into the playoffs with a win.

Joliet Catholic 44, Montini 28: The Hilltoppers completed an undefeated regular season and ended Montini’s bid for a playoff spot.
