Photos: Ice climbers scale frozen waterfalls at Starved Rock State Park

Jole Taylor, of Tulsa Oklahoma, formerly of Monee, climbs a 35-foot frozen waterfall Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, in Ottawa Canyon at Starved Rock State Park. The waterfalls tend to freeze for a brief time in January or February at the state parks. Climbers need to sign in and out at the front of the Park Maintenance Building across from the Visitor Center. Climbing is only allowed in three canyons in the park. (Scott Anderson)
