Volunteer Rich Tobiasz, dressed in early 1700’s era clothing, talks how native Americans discover maple surfing while teaching about the history of maple sugaring during the McHenry County Conservation District’s annual Festival of the Sugar Maples, at Coral Woods Conservation Area, 7400 Somerset Drive in Marengo. People were able to walk through the woods and learn about history of maple sugaring and the evolution of the sap collection process during the one hour long half-mile hike through a woodland trail, on Monday, March 11, 2024. The festival continues on March, 16, and 17. (Gregory Shaver/Gregory Shaver - gshaver@shawmedia.com)
