Photos: IDOT conducts controlled prairie burn near Oglesby

Crews from Semper FI Land Services, along with help from the Illinois Department of Transportation, conduct a controlled burn on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Deer Pit Prairie near the intersection of Interstate 39 and Route 251 near Oglesby. The burns are designed to clear out invasive plants and encourage the growth of native prairie vegetation. Other future burn locations that IDOT has scheduled are Indian Boundary Prairie near Ohio in Bureau County. (Scott Anderson)
