GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lincoln-Way West 75, Hinsdale South 37: Ava Tisch led the Warriors (9-1) to the nonconference win with 19 points. Kaitlyn Weaver scored 13 points and Caroline Smith added 12.
Iroquois West Tournament: Gardner-South Wilmington lost twice in tourney action. In the first game, the Panthers fell to Herscher 50-19 as Madison Wright led with seven points. In the second game, GSW (3-10) lost to Hoopeston 74-25 as Maddie Simms led with 18 points.
Morris 80, Rochelle 65: Morris (11-0, 3-0) got the Interstate Eight Conference win behind 32 points and 12 rebounds from Landrie Callahan and 19 points, four rebounds and four assists from Layken Callahan. Tessa Shannon added nine points and five rebounds.
Yorkville 70, Plainfield Central 29: The Wildcats dropped the Southwest Prairie Conference decision.
Providence 48, Bishop McNamara 42: At the Marian Catholic Holiday Classic, the Celtics got 25 points from Molly Knight and 10 from Eilish Raines.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lemont 57, Marian Catholic 53 (2 OT): At the Team Rose Shootout, Shea Glotzbach (14 points) made the go-ahead free throws in the second overtime for Lemont (8-1). Gabe Sularski had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Matas Gaidukevicius scored 10.
Marist 65, Lincoln-Way East 37: The Griffins fell at the Team Rose Shootout.
Ottawa 54, Plainfield Central 29: The Wildcats dropped the nonconference decision.
BOYS WRESTLING
Mudge-McMorrow Invitational: Joliet Catholic won the title of the 15-team event with 271.5 points, outdistancing runner-up Naperville Central’s total of 207.5. The Hilltoppers got championships from Maddux Tindal (120), Jason Hampton (132), Nolan Vogel (157), Luke Hamiti (165), and Nico Ronchetti (190). Hamiti was named Outstanding Wrestler.
Glenbard North Quad: Lincoln-Way West defeated Lena Winslow 60-10, Plainfield South 71-8, and Glenbard North 49-26. Undefeated wrestlers for West were Brady Glynn (113, 3-0), Maxx Munn (120, 3-0), Carter DiBenedetto (132, 3-0), Jakob Siwinski (138, 2-0), DJ Freeman (165, 3-0), Jimmy Talley (190, 3-0), Nate Elstner (215, 3-0), and Brandon Barvirsha (285, 2-0).
Larry Gassen Dual Team Tournament: Coal City won the title at the 16-team event, beating Downers Grove North 43-21. The Coalers beat Geneseo 34-25 in the semifinals. Lincoln-Way East beat Chatham Glenwood 50-24 in the fifth-place match. Previously, the Griffins beat Huntley 54-21.
Rex Lewis Tournament: Morris finished third at the 16-team event, while Romeoville finished seventh. Brock Claypool (126) and Carter Skoff (144) were individual champs for Morris, while Isaiah Escobar (190) Jamir Thomas (285) were champions for Romeoville.
Kenny Zabel Duals: At Minooka, Joliet Central went 1-2 on the day, beating Bishop McNamara and losing to Minooka and West Aurora. Liam Welsh and Aleck Allende went 3-0 on the day for the Steelmen.
GIRLS BOWLING
Plainfield North Strikefest: Joliet Central won the championship of the Silver Division, beating Oswego East in the title match. Joliet West finished third out of 44 teams, while Plainfield Central finished 11th.
GIRLS WRESTLING
Glenbard South Invitational: Joliet West finished first in the 14-team event. Bianca Campos (170) and Vanessa O’Connor (125) were individual champions for the Tigers. Lemont finished fourth.
East Aurora Tournament: Seneca’s Catalina Pacheco took first place, while teammate Sammie Griesen placed third. Lilly Rademacher, Haven Nicoladies and Haiden Lavarier took fifth for the Irish.
