Malden Musketeers win first BVEC championship

The Malden Musketeers won their first BVEC championship, upending 8-time champion DePue 35-31. The Malden Musketeers upended 8-time defending champion DePue to win their first BVEC championship Thursday night on their homecourt.

Malden’s Joesph Perez was the tournament’s leading scorer, including 14 points in the title game. Matthew Bohms and Jase Perez each added nine points.

The Musketeers finished as regular-season and tournament champions.

For DePue, Joel Mendez had 14 points and Cristian Torres added eight.

Ohio beat Ladd 40-21 for third place. Luke Forristall led Ohio with 13 points with Levi Forristall adding nine, Conner Hansen eight and Cole Deery seven. Top scorers for Ladd were Jack Dempsey (8) and Talan Bland (7).
