Maurice L. Cross of Streator was sentenced Dec. 13 to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after being convicted of aggravated battery with a firearm.
The charges stemmed from a shooting that occurred July 15, 2023, on Carriage Lane in Streator.
Livingston County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, where two individuals had been shot. Cross was taken into custody July 20, 2023, by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in Indiana.
On Aug. 14, 2024, Cross was found guilty in Livingston County court during a bench trial. In addition to the sentence, a judge also ordered Cross to pay restitution to the victims involved in the shooting.
