Princeton’s Kane Dauber, Casey Etheridge, Cade Odell take first at Saber Invite: Saturday BCR Roundup

At Dewitt (Iowa): Princeton had three champions among seven place-finishers in Saturday’s Central Dewitt Saber Invitational.

Kane Dauber (132 pounds), Casey Etheridge (165) and Cade Odell (285) all made it to the top of the awards stand in first place.

Ace Christiansen was runner-up at 144, Ian Morris was third at 215 while Brayden Bickett (106) and Alister Swanson (120) each placed sixth.

Girls basketball

Ottawa 51, Princeton 22: The Tigresses couldn’t keep up with the Pirates in the semifinals of the Ottawa Holiday Tournament, falling behind 25-9 at the half and 45-19 after three quarters.

Makayla Hecht and Payton Brandt each scored seven points for PHS. Marlie Orlandi led Ottawa with 18 points.

Metamora 50, Princeton 44: The Redbirds outscored the Tigresses 21-13 in the third quarter on the strength of six 3-pointers to take a 39-30 lead in the third-place game at Ottawa.

Camryn Driscoll had 14 points, Keighley Davis 13 and Payton Brandt nine for PHS (9-4).

Davis was named to the all-tournament team.

The Princeton F/S lost to L-P 40-24 and then Ottawa 32-13, finishing fourth in the Ottawa Tournament.

Bureau Valley 52, Mendota 42: The Storm outscored the Trojans 12-6 in the fourth quarter to sneak away with a win on the road over their former Three Rivers rival. Eight of nine players scored for the Storm, led by Libby Endress (18 points) and Bella Birkey (10).

Boys basketball

Princeton Christian Academy 52, LaMoille JV 47: The Eagles outscored their guests 17-12 for a win Saturday morning at Howard Hoffman Memorial Gymnasium.

Andrew Gibson led PCA with 18 points, Julian Mucha had 16 and Santy Slevin added 14.

For LaMoille, Jon Martin had 12 points, Jhett Cowser had 10 and Gavin Moore had seven.

Annawan 58, ROWVA-Williamsfield 17: The state-ranked Braves (10-0) breezed to the win in their LTC opener behind Maddux Heitzler (20 points), Cole Goodley (10) and Brady Heitzler (9).
