Two Panther standouts, Doug Siebert (1981) and Ashley Kneeboone (2000), will be enshrined into the Putnam County High School Sports Hall of Fame between the boys basketball games Friday night at RM Germano Gymnasium.
Siebert played four years of basketball and baseball. He was a three-year varsity letter winner in basketball and a four-year varsity letter winner in baseball.
Some of his basketball accolades include being named to the Hall Holiday All-Tournament Team during his junior and senior seasons and to the Tri-County All-Conference and Tri-County Conference All-Tournament teams his senior year. Siebert received All-State Honorable Mention following his senior season in which he led the team in field goal percentage, free throw percentage and rebounds.
In baseball, Siebert was a member of the Panthers' 1978 state team. He was selected to the Tri-County All-Conference Team in both his junior and senior years, leading the team in batting.
In his senior year, he hit .394, collecting 43 hits with 11 doubles, 30 runs and 22 RBIs. He was an All-State selection and represented Putnam County on the North team. He had a such keen eye at the plate, coach Ken Jenkins said Siebert only struck out 19 times in over 400 at-bats
Siebert went on to have a highly successful baseball career at IVCC.
Kneebone was a three-sport standout at PC, playing volleyball, basketball and softball. She was named PC’s Female Athlete of the Year in the 1999-2000 school year.
She was a two-year varsity letter winner in volleyball, leading the area in blocks in both her junior and senior years.
In basketball, she was a three-year varsity letter winner, named First-Team Tri-County All-Conference and First-Team NewsTribune All-Area in both her junior and senior years.
In her senior basketball season, Kneebone led the area in rebounds, steals and shooting percentage. She was second in the area in scoring.
On the diamond, she had 156 hits and 132 RBIs for the PC softball team with a .585 career batting average as a three-year varsity letter winner.
She was named First-Team Tri-County All-Conference and NewsTribune All Area following both her junior and senior years.
She was named the NewsTribune Softball Player of the Year following her senior season in which she led the area in hits, runs, home runs, RBIs and fielding percentage while earning Second-Team All-State honors.
