Seneca 48, Marquette 42: At Seneca on Thursday, the host Fighting Irish (15-5 overall, 8-2 TCC) led throughout and eventually won a tight Tri-County Conference showdown with the visiting Crusaders.
Alyssa Zellers (13 points), Audry McNabb (11), Lanie Olson (nine), Evelyn O’Connor (eight_ and Graysen Provance (seven) led Seneca in the scoring column.
Kaitlyn Davis scored 26 points and blocked four shots, while Hunter Hopkins provided six points and five assists for Marquette.
Both teams head into the Tri-County Conference Tournament, which opens Saturday in Roanoke.
Serena 49, Hinckley-Big Rock 23: At Hinckley, the visiting Huskers improved to 15-5 and notched the Little Ten win led by a 28-point performance from Jenna Setchell.
Kendall Whiteaker pitched in seven points for Serena.
Earlville 43, IMSA 22: At Earlville, Bailey Miller scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Red Raiders won a Little Ten Conference contest.
Audrey Scherer had nine points and eight rebounds for Earlville, while Addie Scherer added seven points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Somonauk/Leland 43, Hiawatha 19: At Kirkland, the visiting Bobcats pulled away in the second half for the Little Ten triumph.
Laynie Wold (11 points), Kiley Mason (10 points), Abby Hohmann (nine points, eight steals) and Ashley McCoy (six points, four steals) led a balanced attack for Somonauk/Leland.
FCW 57, Ridgeview 39: At Flanagan, the host Falcons opened up a 10-point advantage by the half of a Heart of Illinois Conference victory.
Ella Derossett (23 points), Emma Palaschak (18) and Aubry Edens (10) all scored in double digits for Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland.
Dee-Mack 59, Fieldcrest 32: At Minonk, the host Knights (10-9 overall, 4-3 HOIC) were defeated despite 12 points scored by Pru Mangan and 11 off the hands of Macy Gochanour.
Limestone 39, Ottawa 38: At Bartonville, the visiting Pirates lost a close nonconference affair ahead of Saturday afternoon’s home game against Interstate 8 Conference rival Morris.
Boys swimming
La Salle-Peru Co-Op 55.5, Metamora 37.5: Jonathan Neu won two individual events and swam on two winning relays Thursday to lead the Cavaliers to a victory at L-P.
Neu won the 50-yard freestyle (23.64 seconds) and 100 backstroke (1:00.35). He teamed with Bo Weitl, Tucker Ditchfield and Vince Wargo to win the 200 medley relay (1:52.61) and swam with Brian Lowery, Weitl and Wargo to win the 400 freestyle relay (3:43.13).
Ditchfield won the 200 individual medley in 2:21.47.
Girls bowling
Ottawa 2,713, Rochelle 2,486: Leading the victorious Pirates were Ana Zeglis with a 520 series, Kathy Perez with a 514 (216 high game) and Tessa Diaz (174 high game).
Boys wrestling
Wilmington 40, Streator 23; Herscher 54, Streator 21: At Wilmington, the Bulldogs dropped both of their meets in an Illinois Central Eight Conference quad. Garritt Benstine scored a pair of victories (technical fall, major decision) at 138 pounds.
Aydan Radke at 215 earned the Bulldogs' other non-forfeit victory (technical fall).
Sandwich 49, Woodstock North 15; Woodstock 40, Sandwich 27: At Sandwich, the host Indians won one and lost one in a Kishwaukee River Conference quad.
Scoring two wins on the day for Sandwich was Cooper Corder at 144 (pinfall, forfeit).
