Seneca 43, Roanoke-Benson 26: At Roanoke in the third-place game of the Tri-County Conference Tournament, the Fighting Irish jumped out to a 15-4 lead after the opening quarter and outscored the Rockets 21-13 in the second half in the victory.
Audry McNabb led Seneca with 10 points, with Evelyn O’Connor adding nine, Tessa Krull eight, and Alyssa Zellers and Graysen Provance five each.
O’Connor and Zellers were named to the all-tournament team.
Serena 64, Indian Creek 38: At Earlville in the semifinals of the 44th annual Little Ten Conference Tournament, the top-seeded Huskers outscored the No. 4-seeded Timberwolves 46-22 in the final three quarters to advance to Friday’s 8 p.m. championship game against No. 2 Hinckley-Big Rock.
Serena (17-5) was led by 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals from Maddie Glade. Jenna Setchell added 17 points and four steals, with Brynley Glade chipping in eight points and a pair of rebounds.
Hinckley-Big Rock 55, Somonauk-Leland 52: At Earlville in the semifinals of the Little Ten Conference Tournament, the No. 3-seeded Bobcats played “great all night long executing the game plan on defense and playing efficient and balanced offense,” according to coach Jason Zaleski. But they couldn’t get defensive stops against the No. 2-seeded Royals to hold on to a five-point lead in the final minutes.
Somonauk-Leland, which plays in the third-place game against Indian Creek at 6:30 p.m. Friday, was led by Kiley Mason’s 15 points, followed by eight points apiece from Abby Hohmann and Laynie Wold and seven points from Leah Norris.
Earlville 61, Hiawatha 31: At Earlville in the consolation semifinals of the Little Ten Conference Tournament, the Red Raiders advanced to Friday’s 5 p.m. consolation championship against Newark with the big win over the Hawks.
Earlville was led by Natalie Hall (12 points, 10 rebounds), Kyley Helgesen (12 points, four assists), Audrey Scherer (eight points, 15 rebounds) and Halleigh Blair (six points).
Newark 40, IMSA 31: At Earlville in the consolation semifinals of the Little Ten Conference Tournament, the Norsemen advanced to the consolation championship with the triumph over the Titans.
Reed-Custer 29, Streator 20: At Pops Dale Gym, the Bulldogs fell behind 10-3 after one quarter and 20-12 at halftime in the Illinois Central Eight Conference loss to the Comets.
Ava Gwaltney had eight points and Rhea Huey four points for Streator (1-21, 0-9).
LeRoy 56, Flanagan-Cornell/Woodland 32: At LeRoy, the Falcons dropped the decision to the Panthers in the fifth-place game semifinals of the McLean County/Heart of Illinois Conference Tournament.
Boys wrestling
Seneca 70, Streator 6; Seneca 62, Prairie Central 10: At Fairbury, the Irish improved to 20-4 on the season with wins over the Bulldogs and Hawks.
Chris Thompson (106/113 pounds) and Chase Rod (150/157) recorded pins at two different weights for Seneca, while Raiden Terry (120), Ryker Terry (132), Avery Phillips (138), Nick Grant (165), Alex Gagnon (175) and Landen Venecia (190) all had single wins.
Aydan Radke (215) posted Streator’s the lone win against Seneca.
Rochelle 71, Ottawa 12: At Kingman Gym, the Pirates fell to the Hubs in the Interstate 8 Conference dual.
Girls wrestling
Seneca 36, Prairie Central 10: At Fairbury, the Irish evened their record at 4-4 with the win over the Hawks.
Brooklyn Hart (110, pin in 2:35), Catalina Pacheco (130, pin in 2:22), Sammie Greisen (pin in 1:50) and Haiden Lavarier (140, pin in 2:17) all earned wins.
Girls bowling
Streator 2,226, Mendota 2,080: At Mendota Elks Lodge, the Bulldogs, led by a 452 series and 168 high game from Lily Michael, topped the host Trojans.
Streator also received solid efforts from Jenna Onasch (427 series, 147 high game), Madi Bedeker (405, 138), Lyla Gengler (346, 140) and Kaitlyn Pettyjohn (345, 130).
