Batavia Public Library hosts Winter Challenge, featuring raffles, prizes and more

Batavia Public Library is hosting the Winter Challenge through Jan. 31, 2025. The library is located 10 S. Batavia Ave.

The Batavia Public Library is offering the Winter Challenge to patrons, which began Dec. 16 and runs through Jan. 31.

It’s a reading and activity club that qualifies participants to win prizes.

Participants can read or listen to books, then log them on the Beanstack app or fill out paper logs to earn prizes. Logs must be brought to the library’s Youth Services or Reference desks by 5 p.m. Jan. 31.

For teens and adults, it is strictly a reading club, but for infants and children 14 or younger, Winter Challenge combines reading and completing fun activities to earn points. Those points add up and qualify children to earn prizes.

For every three books read by adults and teens, participants will earn one free book as a prize. Adult and teen participants will also earn raffle tickets for grand prize drawings each time they submit a completed reading log. Up to 10 logs may be turned in.

Along with books of all genres, prizes include a $50 Kane County Cougars gift certificate, $75 gift certificate to The Comedy Vault and a prize basket of goodies from local businesses for adults and teens.

Prize baskets for children include the Let it Snow, Get in the Game and I Scream for Ice Cream baskets.

Reading logs and activity sheets are available at the Library and at bataviapubliclibrary.org/winter-challenge-2025.
