St. Charles residents will see a new gallery of local artwork when visiting the library now through February.
Throughout January and February, works by local artist Caitlin Palagi will be exhibited at the St. Charles Public Library.
Palagi’s “Anticipation” is a self-curated exhibition of original paintings made over the course of 2024.
The library will host an artist reception from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 12 in the Bisbee Conference Room of the library at 1 S. Sixth Ave., where attendees will have a chance to meet Palagi.
Palagi is a self-taught artist who specializes in oil painting and believes in intuitive art, or finding one’s creative voice by trusting in their mind and body. Her growth as an artist occurred when she began leaning into her creativity and stopped analyzing it, according to a news release from the library.
Palagi is a St. Charles resident and instructor at Batavia’s Water Street Studios. She is also a visiting artist for Chicago Arts Partnership in Education (CAPE).
The St. Charles Public Library’s Community Artist Gallery program has displayed local artists’ work since 1979.
The exhibit can be seen anytime the Library is open: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
