St. Charles Arts Council moving into a space of their own

Community invited to grand opening event Feb. 23

St. Charles Arts Council will move into their first brick and mortar location in February, to provide room for expanding services and hosting events.

On Feb. 1, the council will move into their new location at 121 N. Second St., Suite H in downtown St. Charles. The council had previously operated without a physical office or gallery space.

“Having a physical space for the Arts Council has been on our radar for years,” SCAC Executive Director Kathryn Hill said in a news release. “Our programming will expand exponentially this year, as we now have space for workshops, gallery exhibits and artist talks. We will also have information about local arts organizations so that visitors can see all that St. Charles has to offer in the name of the arts.”

The St. Charles Arts Council will host a grand opening event from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 23, for the public to see the new space and celebrate the milestone with the council. An exhibit by SCAC members will be on display at the event.

“This is the perfect way for us to highlight the incredible talent that lives right here in our community. We have about 40 artist members who will have the opportunity to exhibit their work at our inaugural gallery exhibit,” Hill said in the release.

The St. Charles Arts Council is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization with the mission of supporting arts and culture in the community.

SCAC Programming includes weekly eblasts featuring local art organization events, monthly artist coffee talk meetings, student art show, painting the streets, and several other events and fundraisers throughout the year.
