Huntley woman killed in Randall Road crash identified

Police: Cause of multi-vehicle crash still under investigation

The Kane County Coroner’s Office on Friday identified a 70-year-old woman from Huntley who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Jan. 8 in Carpentersville, according to a news release.

Maria Drinkwater sustained severe injuries and was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where she was later pronounced deceased, according to the release.

A preliminary autopsy report on Jan. 10 determined her cause of death was multiple injuries due to a motor vehicle accident, the release stated.

Toxicology samples are undergoing analysis at a forensic lab.

The crash had occurred shortly before 5 p.m. at the intersection of Randall and Binnie roads.

According to a news release from Carpentersville police, Drinkwater’s car was traveling north on Randall Road attempting a left turn to go west on Binnie Road when an SUV traveling south on Randall Road struck her vehicle.

Police have video footage from a passing vehicle equipped with an onboard camera, which will aid in determining the cause of the crash, according to the release.
