City of St. Charles to award four $2,500 scholarships to local students

Applications open to high school seniors

St. Charles city officials are exploring the possibility of merging the St. Charles Plan Commission with the Board of Zoning Appeals.

Four St. Charles students will be chosen to receive a total of $10,000 in scholarships as part of the 2025 IMUA Scholarship Program.

The annual scholarship program is funded by the City of St. Charles and the Illinois Municipal Utilities Association.

In honor of this being the 25th year of the program, scholarship amounts were increased from $1,000 to $2,500.

Applicants must be graduating high school seniors whose households are residential customers of St. Charles utilities.

Completed applications, along with an essay of 500 words or less addressing one of four utility-related questions, should be completed and mailed to 3400 Conifer Drive, Springfield, by March 14.

The top four finalists each will receive a $2,500 scholarship award.

The application, list of essay questions, and eligibility requirements can be found at imea.org/services.

Since its inception, the IMUA Scholarship Program has awarded $68,000 to 108 students from IMUA member communities across Illinois.
