Batavia Police are still searching for the burglar who made off with “numerous items” after breaking into liquor store off Randall Road on the city’s west side and leading officers on a high-speed chase.
At approximately 2:10 a.m. on Jan. 28, Batavia Police responded to an alarm for an active break-in and burglary at Liquor & Tobacco, at 1804 Mill St., according to a news release from the Batavia Police Department.
Upon arrival, an officer saw what appeared to be the suspect vehicle exiting the parking lot, according to the release.
Officers pursued the vehicle south on Randall Road, but abandoned pursuit near Orchard Road, due to excessive speeds causing public safety concerns, according to the release.
The front door of the liquor store was found smashed and numerous items and products had been stolen, according to the release.
Detective Sergeant Rich Hall later reported the vehicle was recovered by law enforcement, but the investigation and search for the suspect are still ongoing.
