Semi strikes pedestrian on Batavia’s east side

Pedestrian in stable condition, investigation ongoing

A Batavia pedestrian is in stable condition after being struck Tuesday evening by a semitrailer on the city’s east side.

Batavia police are investigating the crash that occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 4, at the intersection of Kirk Road and E. Wilson Street, according to a news release.

The pedestrian was conscious when first responders arrived on the scene, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. They are in stable condition, according to the release.

Due to the severity of the pedestrian’s injuries, the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team responded to the scene.

The semitrailer driver is cooperating with the open investigation, and no citations have been issued as of Wednesday morning, Feb. 5, according to the release.

The investigation shut down traffic in the intersection from 5:30 to 8:40 p.m. Tuesday evening, but it is fully open to traffic.

The investigation is ongoing and additional details will be provided when they become available.
