Want to have the chance to get to hear where your local city and school board candidates stand on the issues facing your community?
A forum to meet the candidates in the towns of St. Charles, Batavia, and Geneva is being hosted by We Can Lead Change-Fox Valley on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Baker Community Center, 101 S. 2nd Street, St. Charles.
Early voting for the April 1 Consolidate Election begins on March 7.
The event is free and open to the public. Community members will have the chance to engage with candidates and ask questions about their positions on local topics and issues, according to a release.
We Can Lead Change-Fox Valley is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to civic engagement, advocacy, and community-driven change, according to the release.
“Local elections are coming up quickly, and these races have the potential to shape the future of our communities, said WCLC member Sue Sanders of St. Charles in the release. “We Can Lead Change’s members feel it’s important to elevate these local races to help foster informed decision making. Change begins at the local level.”
The organization works to increase voter participation, amplify community voices and support equity and inclusivity in local governance. The group also spearheads Unity in the Community events, which are designed to foster dialogue and connections among residents, according to the release.
