St. Charles Mental Health Board accepting funding applications for mental health agencies

Applications are due by March 10

St. Charles city officials are exploring the possibility of merging the St. Charles Plan Commission with the Board of Zoning Appeals.

St. Charles nonprofits and mental health agencies can apply to receive funding from the city through the 708 Community Mental Health Board.

Mental Health Board members will review the applications and consider the funding requests for the next fiscal year at their annual meeting in April.

The funds are awarded to agencies who serve St. Charles residents by providing services related to mental disorders, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, and drug abuse.

Since 1986, the city has levied a tax specifically dedicated to the mental health needs of the community, which proves the funds awarded by the board.

City Council members last fiscal year approved a total of $660,000 in funding distributed to 19 nonprofit agencies by the Mental Health Board.

Applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on March 10, and will be reviewed during the board meeting at 5:30 p.m. on April 16 in City Hall.

During the meeting, board members will have the opportunity to ask questions or seek clarification about the application. Every applicant must have a representative present at the meeting.

Recipients will be selected at the April meeting and funding will be awarded in FY 2025-26.

First time applicants can request up to $10,000.

Visit the city’s website to review a list of guidelines and fill out the application form.

Applications must be submitted electronically to cao@stcharlesil.gov. For more information call 630-377-4422.
