Kane Circuit names 2 finalists for judge vacancy

Lawyers Ericka Thomas, Thomas St. Jules considered to fill Parga vacancy

Attorney Erika Thomas was one of two lawyers being considered as an associate judge to fill Kane County 16th Circuit  vacancy left by Judge Sandra Parga being elected a circuit judge.

Kane County Chief Judge Robert Villa announced two finalists – Ericka Thomas and Thomas St. Jules – to fill a 16th Circuit associate judge vacancy.

The vacancy is the result of Judge Sandra Parga being elected as a circuit judge in November, according to a news release.

The two finalists were chosen from a field of 34 applicants after a meeting of the circuit judges.

Thomas is a partner at Ottosen, DiNolfo, Hasenbalg and Castaldo Ltd. Her practice is focused on local government law, including civil rights and harassment defense litigation, commission work, police and fire pension work and local prosecution.

Before joining the law firm in 1998, she worked as an assistant state’s attorney in the Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Criminal Divisions and the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to release.

A graduate of Valparaiso University School of Law in Valparaiso, Indiana, Thomas is a member of the Kane County Bar Association, Defense Research Institute and Illinois State Bar Association.

Attorney Thomas St. Jules was one of two lawyers being considered as an associate judge to fill Kane County 16th Circuit  vacancy left by Judge Sandra Parga being elected a circuit judge.

St. Jules is a partner at Llamas St. Jules LLP in general practice, according to the release.

Before that, St. Jules was an associate at Dreyer, Foote, Streit, Furgason and Slocum PA and an assistant state’s attorney in the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Criminal Division.

A graduate of John Marshall Law School in Chicago, St. Jules is a member of the Kane and DuPage County Bar associations, as well as the Illinois Bar Association and previously the Illinois Creditors Bar Association.
