Kane County Chronicle girls basketball preview: 5 players to watch

The girls basketball season tips off this week. Here are five players to watch around the Kane County Chronicle coverage area.

Cassidy Arni, Geneva, jr., forward

Arni is a three-year starter and can shoot anywhere on the floor. Arni is also an underrated defender and will be a leader on the floor with Leah Palmer.

Brooke Carlson, Batavia, so., guard

One won’t find much better guard play than Carlson. She can score, dish assists and provide a – no pun intended – Bulldog attitude on the court. Carlson averaged 14.5 points and nearly four assists per game.

Taylor Charles, Burlington Central, sr., forward

Charles, a Princeton commit, is an excellent on-ball defender and rebounder. While also a strong scorer, Charles offers so much as a passer as well. Even after graduating Elana Wells, Charles retains her top role.

Reagan Sipla, St. Charles North, so., forward

Sipla established herself as a high-level player right off the bat and will be a force in her second season. Even if she’s not shooting, she’ll find the right spot to be on the floor and provide excellent help defense and rotating pressure on a given possession.

Tessa Towers, Batavia, sr., forward

Towers has been a walking double-double since she started at Batavia and it’ll continue again this season. The Wisconsin recruit averaged 17 points and 12 rebounds per game a year ago.
