Update: Two victims of Batavia car crash released from hospital; 12-year-old boy remains hospitalized

A woman and a 6-year-old boy injured in a Batavia car crash that killed two men have been released from the hospital, while another boy remains hospitalized.

According to a news release from Batavia police, Brian Froehlich, 18, of the 2N400 block of Colt Drive, Elburn, and Farzin Khamis- Zadegan of the 1200 block E. Wilson St., Batavia, were killed in the accident in the 700 block of West Fabyan Parkway on Sunday evening. Froehlich was a student at St. Charles North High School, according to Batavia police.

The release states that around 7:15 p.m., a 2017 Ford Mustang driven by Khamis- Zadegan was traveling westbound on West Fabyan when it crossed the center line and was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound 2012 Kia Optima. The driver of the Kia was a 37-year-old woman, and two children, the 6-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy, were passengers in the car.

Froehlich, who was a passenger in the Mustang, and Khamis-Zadegan died at the scene, while the three occupants of the Kia were taken to a local hospital.

Police have not issued any citations as of Monday morning, but are continuing to investigate the crash.
