St. Charles is extending downtown road closures until Monday morning due to additional filming for the Netflix production “The Killer.”
Main Street/Route 64 will be closed from 5th Avenue to 3rd Street from 5 p.m. Sunday, March 13 to 6 a.m. Monday, March 14. Filming was scheduled to begin on Thursday, but because of inclement weather, the shoot is extended through early Monday, according to a news release from the city.
“The Killer” is directed by David Fincher and will star actors Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton. Fincher has directed box office thrillers “Gone Girl,” “Seven” and “Fight Club.” Fassbender will play a contract killer in the movie, which is based on a French graphic novel.
Police will be on-site to assist motorists around the detour each night. Drivers are encouraged to avoid downtown and use alternate routes and bridges to cross the river unless specifically visiting downtown.
In addition, all on-street parking will be prohibited on Main Street between the Main Street Bridge and Fourth Avenue until the end of the St. Patrick’s Parade on March 12.
