Main Street will be closed from 5th Avenue to 3rd Street in downtown St. Charles from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday to accommodate the Netflix noir thriller “The Killer.”
The movie, directed by David Fincher, known for such movies as “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Gone Girl” and “Fight Club,” is filming in downtown St. Charles. The film stars Michael Fassbender, known for playing the character Magneto in the “X-Men” movies. He plays a contract killer in the movie, which is based on a French graphic novel. Actress Tilda Swinton also is part of the cast.
Much of the filming will take place at the historic Hotel Baker, which was built in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Because of inclement weather on both Thursday and Friday nights last week, additional nights of filming have been added for this week, according to a news release from the St. Charles Police Department.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the downtown area and use alternate routes and bridges to cross the river. Police officers and members of St. Charles Emergency Management Agency will be onsite to assist motorists around the detour each night, the release stated.
All area restaurants and businesses will remain open and welcome patrons during the filming.
