Batavia Depot Museum selected for National Museum Assessment Program

The Batavia Depot Museum.

The Batavia Depot Museum was selected March 15 to participate in the Museum Assessment Program administered by the American Alliance of Museums.

Through guided self-study assessments and onsite consultation with a museum professional, participation in the program will empower the Batavia Depot Museum to better serve citizens of Batavia and to attain the highest professional standards in the field, according to a news release from the Batavia Park District.

According to the release, participation is made possible through funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. MAP helps museums strengthen operations, plan for the future and meet standards through self-study assessment and a site visit from an expert peer reviewer. The Batavia Depot Museum has chosen to do a MAP Collections Stewardship assessment in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the collection and how it can achieve a high level of professional care for the collections.
