Colonial Cafe’s Aurora location to turn into SYRUP

Another Colonial Cafe restaurant is set to close this month to make way for a new breakfast and lunch restaurant called SYRUP.

The Colonial Cafe restaurant at 1961 W. Galena Blvd. in the West Aurora Plaza is set to close at the end of the month. The next generation of Andersons, Kimmie Matsunaga and Clinton Anderson, are the co-founders and owners of SYRUP.

Last year, SYRUP took over Colonial Cafe’s locations at 552 Randall Road in St. Charles and at 2555 Bunker Hill in Algonquin. Colonial Cafe still has locations on East Main Street in St. Charles and South Washington Street in Naperville.

SYRUP is described as a “upscale, modern farmhouse-meets-luxe breakfast and lunch destination.” In 2019, Colonial Cafe celebrated its 60th anniversary. The restaurant chain launched in October 1959 with a menu that featured 11 sandwiches, french fries, soup of the day, chili and ice cream sundaes and shakes.

Colonial Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. To learn more, visit colonialcafe.com.
