Kane County Sheriff’s Office prepared following violence at U.S. Capitol building

‘No intelligence or threats have been made that anything will occur in the Kane County area at this time’

In reacting to the violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said the department is prepared in the event a similar scenario unfolded in Kane County.

“We consider ourselves always prepared,” Hain said. “We learned a lot of lessons back in June with the civil unrest we experienced then. From that, we built a great regional cooperative relationship with the Aurora Police Department, Elgin Police Department, Naperville Police Department and Kendall County Sheriff’s Office where we have a regional command that’s established and of course all those law enforcement assets that can be drawn from those agencies to respond anywhere we need to.”

That regional command was put in “stand by” mode on Wednesday following the violence that took place in Washington, D.C.

“Of course, we’re always at the ready should we need to activate,” Hain said. “We have no intelligence or threats that have been made that anything will occur in the Kane County area at this time. We communicate and stay in touch on a regular basis with our law enforcement partners.”
