SUGAR GROVE – The Sugar Grove Corn Boil has been canceled for the second consecutive year, after the nonprofit organization wasn’t able to secure liability insurance coverage for the event, according to a Facebook post from Chris Freeman, president of Sugar Grove Corn Boil nonprofit organization.
“This year we have faced the challenge of getting sponsors, finding volunteers, coming up with a COVID safety plan and now the ability to obtain insurance coverage for the Corn Boil,” the post stated. “The insurance companies at this time see public events as a liability and as such the rates being charged has caused Sugar Grove the inability to obtain insurance coverage for this year’s event. With these challenges, the Sugar Grove Corn Boil, NFP committee and volunteers have decided that we will be canceling this year’s event.”
The post stated that the group is going to plan for the 2022 Corn Boil, and is asking the community for suggestions and help with fundraising, volunteering and planning for next year’s event. The group meets on the third Thursday every month at 6:30 p.m., the post stated. For information on how to volunteer or to attend a meeting, visit www.sugargrovecornboil.org.
