Elburn gets ready for the return of the popular Elburn Days end-of-summer celebration

ELBURN – Elburn Days, the annual end-of-summer celebration, returns this year Aug. 20- 22 at Elburn Lions Park. And with the popular event comes the parade, which will require street closures on Friday.

According to a news release, Route 47 will be closed from Route 38 to Keslinger Road from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Drivers are asked to use Anderson Road as a bypass to the village during the parade.

The parade steps off at 6 p.m. from the intersection of North Reader Street and Main Street (Route 47), then heads south on Route 47 to South Street, and then turns west to end at Lions Park.

The parade will feature many tractors, horses, high school and middle school bands, fire trucks, dancers and many local businesses. Children should stay on the sidewalk and not approach the parade attendees for candy, the release stated.

Elburn Village President Jeff Walter said he’s “very excited” about the return of Elburn Days, especially after last year’s cancellation.

“People are ready to get out and Elburn Days is the perfect opportunity,” he said. “The buzz in town is fantastic. Everywhere I go, people ask about Elburn Days being on this year and I am so happy to tell them yes and to come on out. I am looking forward to some good weather, a famous pork chop sandwich, or two, and an ice cold beer.”

The festival will also feature live entertainment, plenty of food, tractor pulls, crafters, a beer tent, mud volleyball, livestock auction and carnival rides.
