Longtime St. Charles Area Chamber of Commerce member Janet Roman has been named the Chamber’s new President and CEO following the resignation of Jim Di Ciaula last month.
Roman, a past Chamber treasurer and board member, will start in the position Nov. 1. Di Ciaula left his post last month to pursue new challenges. He had been the Chamber’s President and CEO since January 2018.
“She brings a lot of enthusiasm to the job,” said St. Charles Area Chamber Board Chairman Ryan Anderson. “Her involvement as a member, a past treasurer and a past board member definitely gives her a unique perspective on the Chamber. I think it’s going to allow her to relate very well with our members. She’s going to know where they’re coming from because she’s been a member herself. She knows what it’s like on both sides of the fence.”
Roman is the assistant vice president and bank manager at Inland Bank and Trust in Geneva.
More than 50 people applied for the post. Anderson said he was surprised at the number of people from outside the area who applied for the position.
“We actually received a fair amount of resumes from outside of the Fox Valley and even out of state,” he said. “The reach on this was much larger than I expected.”
Anderson said the search for a new Chamber President and CEO took a little longer than he had expected.
“But at the same time, it was more important to hire the best candidate than to hire quickly,” Anderson said.
