Geneva Chamber: Here’s a peek at what’s coming up in 2022

Personally, it takes me some time to get used to a new date. Not necessarily a new year, but a new date. For a few weeks in January, I will continue to write the year 2021 on everything. After all, for 12 months I have written 2021. Habits are hard to break.

However, at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, even if I am still writing 2021, we have been thinking about 2022 for quite some time. Dates already are set for our four festivals and a few other events. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer our festivals in the fashion everyone is used to.

Thinking about ways that we can enhance these events while complementing favorites already in place is a never-ending topic in our office. Producing high quality festivals is always top of mind, and in order to do that, there are many balls to juggle. So what will 2022 bring to Swedish Days Festival (June 21-26), Geneva Arts Fair (July 23-24), Festival of the Vine (Sept. 9-11), Christmas Walk (Dec. 2) and the House Tour (Dec. 2-3)? You will just have to attend to see. Mark the dates on your calendar so you don’t miss any of the surprises this year.

First up is Geneva Restaurant Week. This year, your taste buds will thank you Jan. 24-30. No coupon or ticket is necessary. Just visit the participating restaurants found at www.genevachamber.com (choose Restaurant Week on our homepage) and tell your server that you desire the Restaurant Week menu. Some of the items only will be available that week. What a yummy way to end January!

New this year is our Bridal Stroll on Feb. 27. The ABC Geneva Garage Sale will be April 22 and 23, and the date has not been set for our Coffee Crawl. Look for information on these events shortly on our website.

Coming down off the holiday high may bring some grumpiness into your home this month as children return to school and you return to work. It doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom in January. Take advantage of everything you didn’t have time for last month or even last year. Be it a restaurant you wanted to try or a visit to a special place or a shop you walked by a dozen times but always were running late for something else, a new experience always brightens your day and Geneva is just the place to help turn your frown upside down.

The first month of a new year is a perfect time to take a deep breath, relax and enjoy the community you live in. Whatever you choose to do, I think you will agree that staying, playing, shopping and eating in Geneva is a special experience.
