Kendall County reports two more deaths due to COVID-19; toll now at 157

The Kendall County Health Department reported the death of two more county residents due to COVID-19 in its weekly report on the virus issued March 11.

The deaths serve to increase the total number of county residents who have died from the virus since the onset of the pandemic in March 2020 to 157.

In addition, the county reported that the test positivity rate for the virus among county residents continues to decline. On Feb. 24, the department listed the test positivity rate for the county at 4.5%. As of March 11, the department listed the county’s text positivity rate at 2.1%.

The health department also reported that 479 more county residents became fully vaccinated against the virus from March 3 to March 11.

As of March 11 86,648 county residents were fully vaccinated. That figure represents 67.77% of the county’s total population.

The percentage of county and area residents to be fully vaccinated continues to vary widely, Illinois Department of Public Health ZIP code data shows.

As of March 9, the IDPH reported 72.88% of the residents in the Aurora 60503 ZIP code that extends into Kendall County were fully vaccinated, while just 38.74% of the residents in the Newark 60541 ZIP code were fully vaccinated.

A total of 73.72% of the residents in the Plainfield 60544 ZIP code, which also extends into east central Kendall County, are fully vaccinated, the IDPH data shows.

Here is the percentage of the population to be fully vaccinated in other Kendall County area ZIP codes as of March 9, according to the IDPH:

• Oswego, 60543: 69.20%.

• Yorkville, 60560: 68.39%.

• Montgomery, 60538: 65.18%.

• Plano, 60545: 60.79%.

• Bristol, 60512: 59.45%.

• Sandwich, 60548: 54.75%.

Vaccination rates in the Aurora, Naperville, Plainfield area just east of Kendall County continue to exceed local vaccination rates.

For example, IDPH data shows 90.72% of the residents in the Naperville 60564 ZIP code are fully vaccinated, while fully vaccinated rates in the Plainfield 60585 and 60544 ZIP codes stood at 75.51% and 73.72%, respectively, as of March 9.

The data also shows that 73.71% of the population in the Aurora 60504 ZIP code were fully vaccinated as of March 9.
