A Plano man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
Shaylan Preston, 30, was sentenced on Nov. 15 as part of a negotiated plea agreement for the 2022 incident. Preston will have to serve 75% of the 15-year sentence and will serve 18 months of mandatory supervised release upon completion of his sentence.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said that law enforcement intercepted a package containing about 4.7 grams of methamphetamine from FedEx with an ultimate destination to a residential address in Plano. Members of the Kendall County Cooperative Police Assistance Team carried out the delivery of the package while keeping constant surveillance, Weis said.
Preston arrived at the house and took possession of the package inside his vehicle, according to Weis. The vehicle was stopped and the package of methamphetamine was recovered.
He then admitted that he was delivering the package to another person, Weis said. Preston was arrested and remained on GPS home confinement under the Pretrial Fairness Act until he was sentenced.
