Oswegoland Senior Center brings holiday cheer to local veterans with 14th annual Cards for Vets project

Oswegoland Senior and Community Center is moving in to their new home, the former Oswego police station at 3523 Route 34.

More than 800 veterans in Oswegoland senior living facilities received personalized holiday greetings through the Oswegoland Senior and Community Center’s 14th annual Cards for Vets project.

Cards featuring children’s drawings and messages were hand-delivered to 12 senior living facilities and mailed to six Illinois veterans’ homes.

Drawings and messages were created by Churchill Elementary and Oswego East High School Key Club students and visitors to the center’s booth at the Oswego Christmas Walk.

Oswegoland Senior and Community Center volunteer Judy Siedliecki coordinated the effort.

The center welcomes seniors and community members to programs that help participants connect, learn and thrive, according to a news release from the center. It is located at 3525 U.S. Route 34 in Oswego.
