The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office charged seven drivers with driving under the influence and issued 121 traffic citations as part of a holiday traffic safety campaign.
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office participated in a statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign from Dec. 13 to Jan. 2 aimed at reminding motorists to drive sober. This initiative was carried out by Kendall County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce fatalities.
“We can’t emphasize this enough: impaired driving is a dangerous gamble,” Kendall County Undersheriff Bobby Richardson said in the release. “It’s illegal, reckless, and endangers the lives of everyone on the road. Initiatives like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ allow us to confront this issue head-on and deliver a strong message. If you’re under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any other substance, do not drive.”
The enforcement initiative, administered by IDOT and funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, underscores the collective commitment to safer roadways, particularly during high-risk times like the holidays, according to the release.
“This effort is about more than enforcement,” Richardson said. “It’s about safeguarding lives and ensuring that every celebration ends safely for everyone.”
