Yorkville approves $500K contract for sewer work

Project completion expected this summer

The Yorkville City Council approved the 2024 tax levy at their Oct. 8 meeting. The tax levy will be further discussed at a public hearing at the Nov. 12 meeting to pave finalization for the levy that is projected to result in savings for Yorkville homeowners on their property bills.

City officials in Yorkville are investing nearly half-a-million dollars under your feet, replacing and upgrading the city’s sanitary sewer system.

After city council previously budgeted $440,000 in the fiscal year 2025 for sanitary sewer replacement, the first concrete steps were taken towards completing the work.

City council approved on Jan. 14 a contract worth $387,475 with Missouri-based Insituform Technologies to complete the sewer lining improvements.

The city council also approved a $34,354 contract with Engineering Enterprises, Inc. for design and construction of the large subterranean project.

The work is currently scheduled to be completed during the summer construction season.
