What you need to know

The Yorkville City Council approved the 2024 tax levy at their Oct. 8 meeting. The tax levy will be further discussed at a public hearing at the Nov. 12 meeting to pave finalization for the levy that is projected to result in savings for Yorkville homeowners on their property bills.

After residents expressed safety concerns, changes are coming to parking restrictions along Bailey Road in Yorkville.

To reduce congestion in the area around the busy intersection, cars are no longer to park on either side of Bailey Road between Mill Road and Beresford Drive. Vehicles will not be allowed to park along the west side of Bailey Road.

The move, implemented after a unanimous city council vote, is designed to prevent traffic from further bottling up in the area. It also frees space around the intersection to prevent potentially dangerous situations arising from congestion.

The city decided not to send mailers to residents because they decided the ordinance changes would only affect a limited portion of Bailey Road.
