Developers have proposed another senior-living facility in Yorkville, with up to 346 dwelling units planned.
The development proposal encompasses 130 acres, located south of Fox Road, west of Morgan Street, and north of the Greenbriar subdivision. The plans include 88 lots from the undeveloped Williamsport subdivision.
A public hearing on the proposed planned development is tentatively scheduled for 7 p.m. on April, 9 at City Hall, 651 Prairie Pointe Drive, Yorkville.
According to city documents, the planned development is being dubbed the Christie Property, as both the Christie Family Trust and Fox River Enterprise, LLC, submitted joint applications to the city to request rezoning and special use authorization for the property.
The developers seek to construct single-family homes, age-targeted single-family homes, and other age-restricted options. These options include single-family, duplex and four-plex homes.
For the mixed-density residential development to receive approval, city officials must rezone the property to allow multi-family attached residences. The property is currently only zoned to permit single-family homes.
Several age-restricted senior-living communities have been proposed and taken steps forward in Yorkville in recent months.
One of the planned developments, the Heartlands Meadows West project in the Kendall Marketplace area, will feature 20 single-family age-restricted homes. Some community members voiced their opposition to that project, especially its plans for four commercial properties in addition to the senior-living homes, because they said the area already faces over-development.
More details on the Christie Property senior-living development will be announced as the project moves through the necessary city committees and as the final plans come before city council for full approval.
