A Plano man has been charged with aggravated domestic battery after allegedly stabbing a family member in the back with a kitchen knife during an argument.
Marcus Thurmond, 30, was charged by Plano Police after officers responded to the 900 block of Wilbe Street, Plano, at 10:29 p.m. Jan. 26.
According to a news release from the Plano Police Department, Thurmond used the same kitchen knife to both stab a family member in the back and in the hand.
Plano Deputy Chief Gene Morton said the priority in incidents like this is de-escalating in a way in which no further harm happens to anyone involved.
“We make sure we we separate everybody, get both sides of the story, and keep the argument down,” Morton said. “If there’s a mental health concern or if someone is hurt, we call in the paramedics to make sure they get checked out.”
Plano police transported Thurmond to the Kendall County Sheriffs Office Jail in Yorkville.
