A fire that started in the dryer of a house in Oswego Sunday morning caused an estimated $50,000 in damage.
The house remains habitable and no one was injured in the fire, according to a news release from the Oswego Fire Protection District. At 2:58 a.m. Sunday, the Oswego Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 4400 block of Bickford Road in the Hunt Club subdivision for a possible structure fire, according to the release.
Firefighters arriving on the scene found a fire on the rear exterior section of the house and were able to bring it quickly under control, according to the release. An investigation determined the fire began in a dryer in the basement of the house.
“This fire highlights the importance of regular cleaning and maintenance of your dryers and vent pipes,” Oswego Fire Protection District officials said in the release. “Have them cleaned and serviced yearly.”
The Oswego Fire Protection District was assisted on the scene by the Plainfield Fire Protection District and received a change of quarters from the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District, Montgomery Fire Protection District and the Plainfield Fire Protection District.
