A cost-sharing program is being launched across Kendall County and the Yorkville area that will cover 75% of homeowners projects to do everything from constructing a rain garden, planting pollinator-friendly species and trying out farmland cover crops.
From Feb. 1 through March 29, landowners can sign-up for the Partners for Conservation cost-share program administered by the Kendall County Soil & Water Conservation District. The program is designed to provide technical and financial assistance towards projects that conserve soil, enhance water quality, and protect natural resources, according to a news release.
The program funding is made available to address the large number of landowners and operators who have said they would like to maximize efficiency with their natural resources, but need some assistance to get started, according to the release.
Among the eligible projects, funding will be provided for cover crops, no-till/strip-till, pollinator habitat, water well decommissioning, filter strips and grassed waterways.
The program will also cover pasture and hay land planting, saturated buffers, bioreactors, and rain gardens, according to the release.
