Yorkville wrestlers win regional title

The Oswego Co-op swim team won the Southwest Prairie Conference title Saturday.

Boys Swimming

Southwest Prairie Conference meet

Oswego Co-op won the conference meet with 321 points, with Plainfield (265) second and IMSA/Yorkville (246) third.

Oswego’s Tony Hintz (441.90 points) won the diving competition, Tyler Liska won the 200 individual medley (1:58.87), Chase Maier won the 50 freestyle (21.04), Liska the 100 butterfly (53.36), Owen Lippoldt the 100 free (47.27), Maier the 500 free (4:44.95) and the 200 free relay winning in 1:28.45.

Class 3A Moline Regional

Yorkville crowned 10 regional champs and qualified all 14 wrestlers for sectionals in taking the Class 3A Moline Regional title. Yorkville finished with 307.5 points, with Oswego second with 130.

Yorkville regional champions included Nolan Chrisse, Vince Konecki, Dom Recchia, Van Rosauer, Jack Ferguson, Caleb Viscogliosi, Luke Zook, Ryder Janeczko, Luke Chrisse and Xavion Ulloa. Landon Jenkins, Nathan Craft and Donncha Souza all took second and Ramsey Barton third for Yorkville.

Brayden Swanson won a regional title for Oswego at 144 pounds, Dillon Griffin was second at 150, and Raynen Ruffin (120) and Aiden Ortiz (126) were third to qualify for sectionals.

Boys Basketball

Sandwich 67, Richmond-Burton 63

Dom Rome scored a career-high 35 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Simeion Harris had nine points, five rebounds and five assists and Diego Gomez had eight points for Sandwich (16-11, 9-2 KRC).

Woodstock 69, Plano 51

Ethan Taxis scored 19 points and Kevin Martinez 10 for Plano (14-12, 7-4 KRC).

Girls Basketball

Oswego East 71, Naperville Central 69

Aubrey Lamberti hit two free throws with 3.2 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, and Maggie Lewandowski hit two key free throws late in the extra period for the Wolves.

Desiree Merritt scored 24 points, Lamberti 21 and Lewandowski 15 for Oswego East (16-10).
