SOFTBALL

Yorkville 5, Oswego 0

Yorkville’s Madi Reeves struck out 14 in a one-hit shutout, and Kaitlyn Roberts was 4-for-4 with a triple and RBI for the Foxes (13-2, 5-0 Southwest Prairie West). Mackenzie Melzer had a triple and two RBIs.

Newark 16, Indian Creek 2

Kodi Rizzo struck out 10 over five innings, Kaitlyn Schofield drove in four runs, Kailey Wohead had three RBIs and Emily Schofield had two hits for the Lady Norsemen (9-2).

BASEBALL

Minooka 5, Yorkville 3

Minooka’s Hunter Ryan hit a three-run homer to left in the first inning that proved to be the difference, as the Indians won the second game of a three-game series in Minooka. Owen Ross went 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored, Cole Yearsley had a double and run scored and Lukas Haddox a double for the Foxes (11-6, 4-4 Southwest Prairie West).

Newark 9, Indian Creek 4

Dalton Reibel struck out nine and scattered seven hits in a complete-game effort, and the Norsemen racked up 10 hits. Lucas Pasakarnis, Dalton Reibel, and Joe Martin all had multiple hits for the Norsemen (9-0, 6-0).

BOYS TRACK

Sandwich 110, Rochelle 59

Sandwich first-place finishers included Steve Aguilar in the 800 (2:06.83), Dayton Beatty in the 1,600 (5:09.01), Ethan Weeks in the discus (38.19 meters), Michael Marrs in the 200 (23.21), Jacob Heilemeier in the 110 hurdles (17.37) and 300 hurdles (45.89), Jayden Green in the high jump (1.88 meters) and long jump (6.21 meters), Cody Peterson in the pole vault (3.05 meters).

GIRLS TRACK

Sandwich first place finishers included Alana Stahl in the 800 (2:45.96) and 1,600 (6:16.59), and Claire Roberts in the 300 hurdles (57.99), triple jump (9.57 meters) and long jump (4.41 meters)
