Boys Soccer: The Record Newspapers All-Area boys soccer team

Ben Burns, Oswego East, senior, forward: Rebounded from a broken leg and proceeded to break down the opposition with 20 goals and 11 assists. Seemingly kept getting better. Recognized as all-sectional honorable mention and all-conference.

Diego Contreras, Oswego, senior, forward: Relentless, yet disciplined, he had a fantastic season with 12 goals and seven assists, utilizing his ability to dribble and take on 1v1 players. Earned all-sectional and all-conference recognition.

Cael Cummings, Oswego East, senior, defender: The foreman on the back line that helped the Wolves enjoy a season like no other received all-conference and all-sectional honors. He helped limit 15 of 23 opponents to a single goal or less while posting eight shutouts.

Angel Fernandez, Newark/Seneca co-op, senior, midfielder: Little Ten all-conference pick has a special ability to find the back of the net. Led the area with 36 goals and added nine assists. Key reason why Newark/Seneca wasn’t shut out this fall.

Carter Glover, Oswego, senior, midfielder: Named midfielder MVP by his teammates as well as all-conference by the Southwest Prairie, he scored seven goals and added eight assists as his hard work paid off. Physically strong and with great endurance, he was a huge key to the team’s success.

Vincent Herbig, Plano, senior, forward: Scoring a hat trick against Sandwich was one of the many highlights of this all-conference selection’s final season. Scored 24 goals and handed out 10 assists while earning all-sectional honors.

Will Kalsto, Oswego, junior, defender: Dominating most everything in the air, he did an exceptional job leading the back line and helping out the mids while earning all-conference honors and the praise of coach Gaspar Arias as a “great leader, team captain and player.”

Kellen Klosterman, Oswego East, senior, midfielder: Fourth-year starter experienced heartbreak as a freshman in the post-season and the joy of the first regional title in program history as a senior. Earned all-sectional and all-conference with seven goals and eight assists.

Caden Nadler, Yorkville, junior, midfielder/forward: Asked to play forward and multiple positions in the midfield, including central defensive mid, this all-conference pick led the Foxes as a captain. Had four goals and two assists.

DuPablo Parodis-Yu, Oswego East, junior, forward: The playmaker behind a regional champion squad that produced 72 (3.13 per game) goals. Named all-conference with a team-high 12 assists. Added nine goals.

Ryan Walsh, Oswego, sophomore, defender: Among the most elite defenders in the Southwest Prairie Conference, he shut down some great players while receiving all-sectional honorable mention, all conference and defensive MVP.
