Oswego Township Road District issues winter snow parking ordinance reminder

Motorists prohibited from parking on streets after snowfalls of two inches or more

Oswego Township Highway Commissioner Bob Rogerson is reminding the residents of Oswego Township of the Winter Snow Parking Ordinance. All residents are asked to remove vehicles from the roadway so plows can clear the roads for safe travel and so emergency vehicles are able to respond to priority calls.

As stated in Township Ordinance 2018-10, no person shall park or leave standing or unattended a motor vehicle upon any such street or part of a street during or after a snowfall in which there is an accumulation of two inches of snow or more. This applies to all unincorporated roads, streets, allies, highways and cul-de-sacs within the highway commissioner’s jurisdiction until the lane of traffic nearest the curb has been cleared of snow.

Any vehicle parked on the roadway after two inches of snowfall may be subject to being removed at the owner’s expense. Anyone with questions can call the Highway Department at 630-264-4587.
