The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Kendall County and most of northeastern Illinois this afternoon, Monday, Feb. 15.
The warning is in effect through 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16.
The National Weather Service is warning of heavy snow and dangerous travel conditions with low visibility levels. Blowing snow is possible even after snow ends for outlying areas.
The chance for precipitation tonight is 100% and new snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches are possible, according to the National Weather Service.
Low temperatures should range between 2 and 6 degrees tonight, with wind chills as low as 5 below to 15 below zero. Winds will be from the north at 10 to 20 mph.
On Tuesday, the National Weather Service is forecasting a mostly cloudy day with a 20% chance of light snow in the morning with patchy blowing and drifting snow in the morning. Highs should range from 15 to 19 degrees. The lowest wind chill readings should range from zero to 10 below zero in the morning with northwest winds around 10 mph.
Lows on Tuesday night are forecast to range from 3 to 7 below with wind chills as low as 5 below to 15 below zero.
